Farahjaan Sheikh has sixteen years of experience in Film and TV Productions, mainly in India but also on an international scale. She has expertise in all filmmaking aspects and hands-on experience in pre-production, on floor filming and postproduction on all sizes of films and TV shows.

Mirza Askari, of Indian decent but a Swede for 25 years, started his production company, Connecting Bollywood AB, almost a decade ago and has been servicing several film productions in southern Sweden as a line producer before moving into producing his own movies, first with the co-produced Swedish/Indian “Jia aur Jia” and now with the wholly Swedish production Boy in Bollywood.

Boy in Bollywood originated as a series of photos by the Swedish photographer Divya Ostwal from the shooting of the Swedish/Indian movie “Jia aur Jia” in southern Sweden. The photos focused on the relationship between an Indian film star and her ‘boy’. Every striving Indian film star has her own ‘Boy’. The ‘boy’ who lets the film crew know how long before the star will come on the set from her trailer, the ‘boy’ who holds up an umbrella to protect the star from the raindrops when its drizzling and sunlight when it’s clear, the ‘boy’ who brings her a cold drink before the weather gets too hot and coffee before the night chill picks up, the ‘boy’ who sometimes in Bollywood is more essential than the bloody script on a film set! Once upon a time it happens that a young man from the slums gets the chance of his lifetime: to lead a luxury life among the stars but with one foot still in the Mumbai underbelly. This inspired us to want to tell a story about the Indian film fraternity, known for crushing hopes and breaking hearts, and to explore the joys and the pains of pursuing your dreams and how each one of us is just one decision away from an absolutely different life.
