Vi var The Ark

The band that gave a voice to an entire generation of outsiders makes a grand comeback and reclaims its place as Sweden’s leading glam-pop band.

Many of us, like director Martin Sandin, spent our teenage years in a bedroom during the tremulous early years of the new millennium, feeling that society’s costume was too tight to wear. Then six guys from the forests of Småland—led by a charismatic preacher’s son—told us it was okay to be different. Through the band members’ own films, never before shown, we follow the group’s journey from its formation, through the explosive breakthrough, the wrenching events that led to the breakup, and the arduous road back to once again setting sail and bringing both new and previously converted fans along on their musical ark.
