See You Friday, Robinson
Buy ticketsPlayful and reflective meeting between Jean-Luc Godard and Ebrahim Golestan, who in the autumn of life begin an email exchange.
Ebrahim Golestan is a writer and director, an influential voice in Iranian culture who in the mid-sixties made the film Brick and Mirror. Jean-Luc Godard needs no further introduction. They never met each other in person, despite operating in parallel and being roughly the same age. Realizing that a physical meeting was probably never going to happen, director Mitra Farahani suggested that they could start an email exchange instead, every Friday for what turned out to be many weeks. The proposal leads to a touching, fragmentary correspondence between two giants, who reflect with both humor and seriousness on art and life, humanity and death, recently filmed in their respective homes in England and Switzerland.
