Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk
Buy ticketsA poignant cinematic close-up portrayal of the war in Gaza, which had its world premiere in Cannes on the very day its main character was killed in Palestine.
When Sepideh Farsi sets out to depict what is happening in Palestine, she attempts to travel there. But the journey ends in Cairo. Instead, she establishes contact with a young female photographer living in northern Gaza. We follow how they communicate via mobile phone, often with a poor connection. On screen we mostly see the Palestinian woman on a mobile display. But we also see some of her still photographs and the TV screen in the director’s home, where the media depicts what is happening in Palestine. Altogether, it becomes a journey straight into the heart of darkness, guided by one of the war’s victims.
