A compelling historical drama about courage, civil resistance, and the fight for humanity in the shadow of World War II.

During the Finnish Continuation War, Finland formed an alliance with Nazi Germany to confront their shared enemy, the Soviet Union. Prior to this, many Jewish refugees had found sanctuary in Finland to escape persecution, but the military alliance threatened to change the situation. For Finnish-Jewish businessman Abraham Stiller (portrayed powerfully by Ville Virtanen), these developments were deeply troubling. In Never Alone, his relentless efforts to protect Jewish refugees from deportation are brought to life. Festival regular Klaus Härö (The Fencer, GFF 2016; One Last Deal, GFF 2019) has crafted a vital and compelling portrait of a man who, despite his sacrifices, was haunted by the lives he could not save.
