Levers

A community is plunged into a global day of darkness in a dreamlike and surreally enigmatic study of time, place, and fragile human connection.

As representatives of a small Canadian community prepare to speak at the unveiling of a statue, smoke suddenly fills the air and day turns to night. The darkness that follows is not a solar eclipse, but a condition in which time seems to lose its direction and the rhythms of everyday life dissolve. With grainy 16mm imagery and a striking soundscape, Levers is a mysterious, collective meditation on an unpredictable and changing world, using a playfully visionary cinematic language to explore what remains when the world temporarily loses its coherence.
