Hundreds of thousands of spectators and a vibrant and very exciting tournament. However, despite the success, it would take decades before women's football would reach similar heights as during the unofficial World Cup in Mexico in 1971.

Copa 71 has been remarkably omitted from sports history. Partly because it was an unofficial event without approval from the international football association FIFA, but also because the officials did their best to pretend that the tournament had not even taken place. Therefore, a compelling documentary, produced by, among others, the Williams sisters, Serena and Venus, is well-deserved. It sheds light on a fantastic sports event where amateur players from humble backgrounds suddenly play World Cup football at a boiling Azteca Stadium. Stunning match footage is interspersed with valuable archival material about everything surrounding the event and interviews with the players, who can finally tell their story.
