A Cup of Coffee and New Shoes On
Buy ticketsThe unshakable bond of deaf-mute twin brothers is brought to a head in Albania's heart-wrenching Oscar entry.
Agim and Gezim are identical twins who have been deaf and mute since birth. They work together in carpentry and share a stylish apartment in Tirana, which Gezim's girlfriend Ana often visits. But that's not the only thing the brothers share. Agim is informed that he is suffering from an incurable eye disease that is gradually making him blind. Gezim will meet the same fate. Ana stands loyally by their side, but the thought of not being able to see the world, and each other, makes the brothers make a decisive decision. The Portuguese Edgar and Rafael Morais are outstanding as the inseparable brothers in director Gentian Koçi's quietly stirring and clear-eyed gem about the deep meaning of empathy.
