Cachada: The Opportunity

Five Salvadoran women take the stage to talk about their lives as street vendors and single mothers.

A group of impoverished Salvadorans do something completely new and unexpected. They become actresses and form their own theatre ensemble. Their rehearsals turn into a mixture of practice and therapy sessions. Digging deep into their own family histories, they share stories of violence and abuse so painful that you are tempted to look away. In the midst of these horrifying stories, however, there is warmth and humour. Tears turn into laughter. How will their loved ones react when they perform their play in public?
