Nadav Lapid creates a musical tragedy about Israel after October 7. An unsettling satire of nationalism, submission, and artistic integrity.

The musician Y and his dancing partner Yasmin make a living by selling their art and their bodies to the elite of society. When Y is offered the task of composing the music for a new national anthem — intended to unite the nation after October 7 — both his artistic integrity and the couple’s relationship are put under pressure. Yes is a provocative study of moral corruption in which Nadav Lapid delivers a merciless critique of the propaganda and violent logic of Israeli nationalism, while cementing his position as one of the most uncompromising filmmakers of our time.
