A group of women from an isolated religious society have trouble bridging reality and faith as they go to vote for the first time, in Oscar-tipped drama with star-studded ensemble.

The Word of God and patriarchal violence dominate the faraway colony where modern society has yet to reach. Now the women have had enough and go for the first time to vote in order to take command over their collective fate. Their three options are: Leave the colony. Stay and fight. Or do nothing. The race is close as the votes are counted and the prominent families gather to carry the conversations further in secret. Rooney Mara, Frances McDormand, Claire Foy, Jessie Buckley and Ben Whishaw are just a few of those who provide great performances in Sarah Polley’s (Stories We Tell, 2012) acclaimed comeback which through a historical framework touches upon many of the dilemmas of contemporary feminism.
