Impotent ruffian falls for a hard-nosed bodyguard in a charmingly eclectic grindhouse mash-up of black romantic comedy and Indonesian exploitation. Awarded with the Golden Leopard at Locarno.
The hit man Ajo Kawir is widely known for his violent escapades, but he is not as eager to tell others that his staunch machismo is nothing but a sad compensation for his erectile dysfunction. When he meets the bodyguard of his latest target, the denim-clad kung fu virtuoso Iteung, the duel somehow suddenly ends in love. With rawly choreographed lo-fi brawls and a wonderfully quirky love story, the Indonesian auteur Edwin (Postcards from the Zoo, GFF 2013) presents a retro-scented 16-mm homage to the eighties.
