Ultrareligious warmongering teddy bears are at bloody war with the unicorns in pastel splatter war film by Spanish animator-auteur Alberto Vázquez.

Bear brothers Azulín and Gordi enlist in the army to exterminate the mythically hideous unicorns of the magical forest. The blood of the unicorns is said to make the bears’ plushy complexion smooth, soft, and eternally young – which has fueled the race war since time immemorial. But while the generals are whipping up the lust for war, a conflict is also brewing between the two brothers, who are really just yearning for their mother’s love and confirmation. Alberto Vázquez borrows a deceptive Gummi Bears aesthetic to tell his carnivorously violent war saga with baby-blue rawness and jet-black humour – imagine the sweetly evil offspring if Stanley Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket had a teddy love child with Bambi.
