A Ukrainian family vacationing in Tenerife is stranded as Russia invades their homeland, in this gripping and deeply moving festival favorite.

At the foot of Mount Teide, a Ukrainian family of four savors their final day at the beach, blissfully unaware that Russia is about to invade Ukraine and their flight home to Kyiv will soon be canceled. Within hours, their world is turned upside down. No longer tourists but refugees, they scramble to ensure their loved ones’ safety while facing urgent decisions about their own uncertain future.

Meanwhile, life around them remains untouched – the sun shines, the sea sparkles, and tourists continue enjoying their holidays. But as the pressure builds, the family’s internal tensions, like the volcano looming in the background, threaten to erupt.

Under the Volcano is a powerful and masterfully crafted contemporary drama, honored in Venice and selected as Poland’s Oscar submission.
