Past, present, and future intertwine in a brave, honest, and poetically rendered documentary that explores what it means to be a trans woman.

Filmmaker Victoria Verseau returns to Thailand and the clinic where she underwent gender-affirming surgery in 2012. It was an overwhelming experience she shared with Meril, a French woman who became a close friend. Tragically, Meril is no longer alive, having taken her own life. When Victoria revisits the hotel room where they stayed, she is accompanied by Athena and Aamina, who are now undergoing their own transitions. Together, they reflect on their experiences, bodies, and memories. Trans Memoria is an intimate and heartfelt film, featuring personal footage from the time of the surgery that captures moments of doubt and uncertainty. It also portrays the harsh yet life-altering reality of gender-affirming care.
