A young girl’s life is changed by an exciting discovery in Agnieszka Holland’s adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s The Secret Garden.

The ten-year-old Mary Lennox loses her parents in a violent earthquake in India. She is sent with other orphaned children to England, where she is to live with her uncle at an old estate in a desolate area. The castle-like manor is ruled with an iron hand by the strict housekeeper Mrs Medlock, who takes an immediate dislike to Mary. But when Mary makes new friends and discovers a beautiful and mysterious garden, her life is completely transformed.

Bring the kids!

Bring your children to Göteborg Film Festival. This year, we are making an exception to the usual 15+ age limit that applies to all festival screenings, inviting audiences to three magnificent film experiences to share with younger viewers as well. The titles are Arco, The Secret Garden and Little Amélie, or the Character for Rain. Children need a cinema ticket but do not require a festival pass.
