The Seasons
Buy ticketsAn expansive poetic journey through a Portuguese landscape, where myths, memories, and archaeological remains are woven into a warm, hypnotic reflection on the passage of time.
Drawing on the work of archaeologists Georg and Vera Leisner, we are taken on a journey through Alentejo in southern Portugal, a region whose landscapes seem to recur throughout the country’s rich cinematic tradition. In her first solo-directed feature, following several collaborations with Miguel Gomes (The Tsugua Diaries GFF 2022, Grand Tour GFF 2025), Maureen Fazendeiro weaves archival discoveries and diary entries together with songs and staged legends, intertwining past and present in a careful and inquisitive portrait of a place and the people who have lived from its land.
