Cracks begin to show in paradise on a charter holiday as the resort’s polished surface starts to crumble and a Danish family is forced to reassess its moral compass.

When Mikkel and Louise arrive on the holiday island with their two daughters, they have only one goal: to enjoy a carefree week together after a long period of juggling everyday life. But beyond their all-inclusive bubble, another reality unfolds, as thousands of people arrive by sea in search of a better life. One evening, after the family accidentally strikes Ahmad, a man from Afghanistan, they are pulled into the island’s deeper conflicts and their dream vacation collides with harsh reality. In Maria Sødahl’s finely acted drama, the idea of refuge takes on a double meaning as familiar images of the perfect holiday are turned inside out.
