Oscar winner Marion Cotillard and newcomer Clara Pacini mesmerize in a darkly enchanting fable of desire and erotic submission by GFF favourite Lucile Hadžihalilović.

Jeanne (Pacini), a 15-year-old orphan on the run, sneaks onto the set of an idiosyncratic film adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen and becomes captivated by its radiant star, Cristina (Cotillard) – as enigmatic and alluring as the queen she portrays. The fascination is mutual, drawing Jeanne and Cristina toward each other, but – as Andersen foretold – colder than ice, the Snow Queen’s kiss pierces the heart. Hadžihalilović (Earwig, GFF 2022) returns with an enigmatic, dazzlingly beautiful, and utterly magnetic film, awarded the Silver Bear in Berlin.
