Mads Mikkelsen may have never been better than in Thomas Vinterberg’s chilling drama about a preschool teacher accused of the unthinkable.

It was no surprise when Mads Mikkelsen won the Best Actor award at Cannes. The Hunt is an artistic tour de force, with Mikkelsen holding the audience in suspense every second. He plays Lucas, a preschool teacher who, after a tough divorce, has found a new job, a new girlfriend (Alexandra Rapaport), and a better relationship with his teenage son. Everything changes when his best friend’s young daughter accuses him of something interpreted as sexual abuse. Thomas Vinterberg and screenwriter Tobias Lindholm subtly depict a disturbing witch hunt and how a small community loses its innocence.
