Modernity clashes with tradition in this hauntingly beautiful winter tale set in a remote French Alpine village, where a young female teacher arrives with new ideas in 1899.

Drawing from her own family history, Louise Hémon makes her feature debut with an atmospheric drama that echoes festival favourites like Maura Delpero’s Vermiglio (GFF 2025) and Hlynur Pálmason’s Godland (GFF 2023). As the century turns, Aimée arrives in the village with progressive views on education. She is met with both curiosity and suspicion – and as her radiant sensuality begins to attract the attention of local men, the sense of foreboding intensifies. A richly sensory film experience, marked by both audiovisual precision and thematic depth.
