The Falls
Buy ticketsStrained mother-daughter relationship going through unexpected metamorphosis in a wonderfully creative mix of genres on mental illness, unconditional love, and trust.
When the sulky teenager Xiao Jing ends up in home quarantine due to Covid in the classroom at the same time as her divorced mother Pin-Wen loses her job, it doesn’t take long until their roles begin to transform and daily life nightmarishly falls apart. Pin-Wen progressively loses it when the structure in life disappears and Xiao Jing realizes that only she can provide support. But one day things go extremely bad. Former Oscars-shortlisted director Chung Mong-Hong glides seamlessly between drama, psychological horror, and humorous rose-tinted coziness, showing that it may be precisely when everything falls apart that we have the possibility of solving tough dilemmas and building anew and better?
