The Condor Daughter
Buy ticketsHigh up in the Bolivian Andes, a transistor radio stirs dreams of city life as a young woman leaves her village’s ancient customs behind to conquer the city with her voice.
Clara is a young, intelligent, and resourceful woman living in the village of Totorani, high up in the Bolivian Andes. Her adoptive mother, Ana, has carefully passed down the ancient midwifery techniques and atmospheric Quechua songs said to help newborns safely enter the world. Clara is expected one day to carry on these song-accompanied birthing traditions, but within her grows a longing to discover the world beyond the mountains — and perhaps even conquer the big city with her extraordinary singing voice.
With cinematic precision, the story unfolds as a breathtakingly beautiful tale in which duty and tradition are set against dreams and self-realization.
