The Cake Dynasty
Buy ticketsBahar Pars and the Danish star Nicolas Bro excel in Danish comedy about how a struggling cake factory in a mill town gets Middle Eastern culture as a new business model.
When the family business is on the brink of bankruptcy, the depressed, corpulent cake manufacturer Niels (Bro) tries to take his own life but fails. In an attempt to save the company, the newly minted business consultants, Niel’s daughter and her husband, want to re-brand the company by producing healthy diet cookies. But hope for life and the factory instead returns to Niels through his newfound love, the veil-wearing cleaning lady Zeinab (Pars), when she introduces him to Arab culture and its calorie-dripping confectionery. With this humorous directorial debut, Christian Lollike takes satire to its extreme in a sometimes quite twisted display of contemporary cultural clashes, identity consumerism, and derailed sanity.
