Tim Roth shines and provokes on Acapulco’s beaches as a rich, jaded Brit who checks out from his old life.
The filmmaker Michel Franco follows up his brutal punch against Mexican class society in New Order with a more concentrated, but still shocking and sharp character study, taking place in the sunshine and under parasols. Franco keeps his audience on its toes and demands sharp senses when he puts Neil (Tim Roth) totally in the center. He, his sister Alice (Charlotte Gainsbourg) and her two children have arrived at the luxury hotel in Acapulco for vacation, but are forced to cut the trip short due to an emergency situation at home. When one of the siblings unexpectedly tests the strength of the family bonds, old conflicts rise to the surface.
