Second Act

The great star of the Royal Dramatic Theatre has fallen ill, and must be cared for at home by a talkative, insecure woman who, over time, finds it difficult to maintain the professional boundaries of the relationship. The story does not lack points of contact with Ingmar Bergman’s Persona, but in Act Two Rolf Lassgård’s theater diva Harald is as eloquent as she is flamboyant. Lena Olin’s physiotherapist Eva has just retired, but decides to take one last job. Screenwriters Anna Heinämaa and Vera Kiiskinen and director Mårten Klingberg (My Father Marianne, GFF 2020) construct an inviting rom-com that allows two of Sweden’s finest actors to give life to grandiose passions in senior vintage.
