Rule 34
Buy ticketsYoung black law student works part-time on a porn site and experiments with BDSM in bold, sexually and politically charged Brazilian Golden Leopard winner.
In parallel with Simone being involved in giving legal help to women exposed to violence, her own sexual interests become increasingly violent. The cam shows she does at the site Chaturbate and her private experiments blur the borders. Julia Murat focuses on concepts like sex, race, and colonization as she lets a somewhat privileged, but despite all black, woman assume the right to decide over her own body in a patriarchal, racist system. Rule 34 is both an intellectual political study and a vibrant, curious, life-affirming insight into contemporary Brazil, where the debuting Sol Miranda gives us a powerful characterization of Simone. The film has been produced with support from the Göteborg Film Fund.
* The screening 2/2 is followed by aDirectors Talk, a longer conversation with Julia Murat.
