French star Denis Lavant delivers a singular performance as an eccentric farmer in a timely drama set in postwar Sweden.

In the shadow of the Cold War, day labourer Karl-Göran Persson transforms his modest home into a makeshift fortress for himself and his neighbours on the remote Scanian countryside. Pedalling through the area on his bicycle, he gathers scrap metal and embeds it into the walls and roof. His efforts are met with a mixture of ridicule and reluctant respect from the surrounding community, while the local children eagerly draw him into their games. Inspired by the remarkable stories of Persson and the Söderto fortress, director John Skoog (Season, GFF 2019) crafts a soulful and visually striking drama, beautifully shot by Ita Zbroniec-Zajt.
