Buy ticketsClumsy Argentine philosophy professor loses his footing in a melancholic and hilarious academic comedy about prestige, ideals, ambitions, collective power – and male egos.
Marcelo is a philosophy teacher at the Puan University in Buenos Aires. When his mentor and friend, Professor Caselli, suddenly passes away, an old charming overachiever rival returns to the city to snatch the position. Now, Marcelo must confront himself, his life, and the cynical world that has evolved. It doesn't go well, neither for our timid protagonist or for the economically troubled Argentina. Director duo Naichat and Alché deliver hearty laughs (there's an priceless scene where Marcelo is forced to deliver a 'philosophy show' at an 85th birthday party) and political sharpness in this award-winning drama-comedy about a man who possesses the answers to life's big questions but (initially) is utterly helpless in the face of the chaos of daily life.
