A captivating meditation on intimacy, control, memory and continuity in a family torn apart by exile, in a time when longing is a condition to cure.

Maryam, an Iranian in exile, believes she has found a remedy for longing when she installs video cameras in the idyllic Tehran apartment where not only her parents, but also bittersweet memories of growing up in a turbulent and increasingly oppressive society, reside. This lyrical, reflective gem - screened and awarded at IDFA and the Venice Film Festival - asks whether livestreaming her parents' lives creates closeness, or a state of digital captivity and an intensified sense of alienation from those who remained and the time that once was.
