The Troisgros family operates three restaurants in the Roanne region, northwest of Lyon. One of them has held three Michelin stars for 55 years and has now also received a sustainability star. When the genius Wiseman was on vacation in France, he spontaneously asked the owner of the star-studded establishment if he could film them. A pandemic and a few years later, he returned with his camera. And what a comeback it is! Menus Plaisirs offers the usual institutional observation in Wiseman's style in a 240-minute-long day at the restaurant, but behind the scenes. In addition to the kitchen and the dining room, there are visits to the market, a vineyard, and an organic meat farmer. The whole thing is astonishingly well-orchestrated and hypnotically interesting.
