Matti Bye accompanies a charming silent-film pastiche about a Buster Keaton mom crazy about dogs who neglects a confirmation-seeking daughter with a saxophone.

As an actor, Jasmine Trinca has made unforgettable impressions in films such as The Son’s Room and Honey. And as she makes her feature-film debut as a director, it is with contagious zest and euphoric love for cinema. Trinca partially starts off from her own relation to her mother (as she was described in the short film Being My Mom) in the portrait of a guitarist inspired by silent film, who forgets her daughter, leaves the fridge empty, and instead sets her mind to setting up an entertaining show together with the beloved mutt Marcel. But suddenly the dog is gone, and perhaps mother and daughter can meet up for the search? Alba Rohrwacher in white makeup seems to be having loads of fun in the leading role, and Matt Bye’s evocative music provides the emotional sounding board in this charming love declaration to art.
