Buy ticketsFive Khartoumians share their lives before, during and after the war devastating Sudan, in a rare life-affirming and visually playful film.
A globally acclaimed hybrid film (Sundance, Berlinale, BFI) that follows best friends Lokain and Wilson, activist Jawad, mother and tea seller Khadmallah, and Majdi – a civil servant passionate about pigeons. Four Sudanese directors follow the five from 2022 – before the war broke out – and continue after the protagonists' and the directors' flight to Nairobi, where the get to reconstruct their memories. The result: a film that beams with creativity, visual beauty, solidarity and compassion, and reminds us that no one is merely a war victim or refugee.
