Elise Krieps delivers an unforgettable performance as 12-year-old Karla, who on her own seeks out the police to obtain justice and report the man who should be the one closest to her.

In Munich in 1967, it is shameful to speak about abuse within the family. But Karla breaks the silence and meets an older judge who is prepared to listen. Together they find a way forward that allows Karla to steer the process and maintain her dignity. Christina Tournatzès portrays a society — and a real court case — with extraordinary precision and gives us a deeply human and magnetic story about trauma, truth, and the importance of standing up. And the fact that Elise Krieps is the daughter of Vicky, one of the world’s hottest actors at the moment, is both visible and palpable.
