Joan of Arc

On a stark, windswept stretch of the Icelandic coast, three siblings build a knight-like figure in a visually dazzling companion piece to Pálmason’s The Love That Remains.

As the seasons turn and the weather shifts, the siblings construct a figure in polystyrene, dressing it in armor and a helmet. It is a painstaking, time-consuming project they complete together, though the work is just as often interrupted by boisterous quarrels and playful mischief. Once the figure finally stands finished, they unleash their destructive energy, riddling it with arrows. A cyclical game of creation and destruction, rendered with humor and a lyrical sensibility.
