A finely acted Moroccan drama set in a bakery where the biggest problem is a bun in the oven. Maryam Touzani’s exciting directorial debut premiered in Cannes and was selected as Morocco’s Oscar pick.

A young woman is searching through a neighourhood in Casablanca. She knocks on every door looking for work and a roof over her head, but one by one the doors are slammed in her face – she is pregnant, and alone. The same thing happens at baker/widow Abla. Abla has second thoughts in the night, however, and invites Samia into her home – a decision that will change both their lives. Maryam Touzani presents her characters and settings in a warm way in this tactile drama. After Razzia (GFF 2018), which she both scripted and starred in, Touzani continues her collaboration with her husband, Nabil Ayoush, the producer of her directorial debut.
