Festival favourite Radu Jude takes on the contemporary world in a provocative, vulgar, and wonderfully unrestrained burst of madness in this reinterpretation of Dracula.

Somewhere in Transylvania, a strange staging of Dracula is underway. At the same time, a film director is attempting to create the most commercial interpretation possible of the famous vampire myth. But to succeed, the story needs to be spiced up with violence, splatter, car chases, and sex — because isn’t that what audiences want? — and to achieve this, he turns to AI. Radu Jude’s Dracula is a biting satire of a world that has lost its grip on its own narratives, a dizzyingly chaotic and deliberately vulgar whole in which genres are challenged and historical myths are reborn in new forms, and where the logic of capitalism devours even our oldest stories.
