Dear Wendy
Buy ticketsVinterberg and von Trier unite their visions in the U.S. for a neo-western about violence and the stifling monotony of small-town life.
In the American mining town of Estherslope, shy teenager Dick (Jamie Bell) lives in the shadow of his peers. When he discovers an antique pistol, he forms a secret club with other outcast youths, “The Dandies,” where they worship their weapons but swear never to use them. The guns soon become part of their identity, but the club’s non-violence philosophy is tested as the outside world begins to encroach. Von Trier’s sharp eye for moral ambiguities and societal absurdities, combined with Vinterberg’s stylistic precision, results in a provocative exploration of morality, power, and humanity’s relationship with violence.
