Dear Tomorrow
Buy ticketsLike a hidden epidemic, loneliness is spreading through modern society. In a sensitive, quietly observed documentary, we encounter a Japan that has already grasped the gravity of its consequences.
Masato and Shoko struggle separately with profound loneliness and a recurring sense that life lacks meaning. Both live in Tokyo, where the absence of human connection has become so widespread that Japan has appointed a Minister for Loneliness and Social Isolation. Through an online chat service, Shoko finds the courage to reconnect with a childhood friend, while Masato’s situation deteriorates further when he loses his job. Existential questions surface in this intimate and moving portrait of two individuals searching for human connection in an always-connected world.
