Hysterically flipped surrealist dream play about the surrealist giant Dalí, by the flipped and hysterically productive festival-favorite surrealist Dupieux.

The fact that Édouard Baer, Jonathan Cohen, Gilles Lellouche, Pio Marmaï, and Didier Flamand all play Salvador Dalí suggests that this is not your typical biopic, if anyone had expected that from Quentin Dupieux. The French maverick (last seen at GFF with Smoking Causes Coughing 2023) is more interested in playfully turning our perceptions of the Dalí figure inside out. Anaïs Demoustier plays the journalist trying to interview the highly reluctant artist, whose meandering opens up new dimensions of dreams, illusions, and hilarity. It feels a bit like Buñuel filmed a script by Monty Python, but it's, of course, Dupieux filming a script by Dupieux. Infinitely inventive and very funny.
