Four bridge-playing women and Auschwitz survivors witness a dramatically changing world in this unconventional film about the Holocaust.

They arrived in Sweden together after surviving unimaginable horrors in Auschwitz as teenagers. Since then, they have remained close and lived entire lives in Sweden. Now, they are among the last in the world who can testify about what happened in Europe during the 1940s, and their loved ones are eager to hear their stories before it’s too late. At the same time, new events in the world stir up painful memories. The far-right party Alternative for Germany gains electoral success, a horrific terrorist attack occurs in Israel, and images of unimaginable suffering emerge from Gaza. In a polarized world, Bridge Players manages to both bear witness to a complex present and tell the story of the friendship between four passionate card players.
