Bonjour Tristesse

Claes Bang, Chloë Sevigny, and rising star Lily McInerny excel in a sun-drenched and breathtakingly beautiful adaptation of Françoise Sagan's classic novel.

18-year-old Cécile (McInerny) spends the summer with her father (Bang) and his girlfriend in an elegant villa on the French Riviera. Alongside a summer fling with a neighbour boy, Cécile has all the time in the world for swimming, daydreaming, and grown-up conversations over an apéro. That is, until her late mother’s friend, the acclaimed fashion designer Anne (Sevigny), arrives and casts a shadow over the everyday life and the people around Cécile. Perhaps they weren’t so perfect after all? Canadian debut director Durga Chew-Bose skillfully captures the atmosphere of Sagan’s unforgettable coming-of-age story, enhanced by dazzling scenery, cinematography, and a finely tuned soundtrack.
