The imaginative balloon girl Betty’s life is about to undergo a major change when a cactus family moves into the house next door.

Four-year-old Betty Balloon lives with her family in a suburban neighbourhood. For them, just like for all balloons, it is important to be a little careful, stay away from sharp edges and avoid going outside in windy weather. So there is some concern in the neighbourhood when the Cactus family moves into the house closest to Betty’s. It soon turns out that the Cactus family has a son the same age as Betty, and it isn’t long before they become best friends. Betty’s parents are somewhat anxious about their friendship, but imaginative Betty sees no reason why they shouldn’t be able to play and have fun together. With plenty of humour and clever twists, it is the children who show that differences are nothing to be afraid of – on the contrary, they are exactly what makes life exciting and fun, even when you’re a balloon.
