Are rainbows the escape routes of time travellers streaking across the sky? Perhaps so, at least in this enchanting, Miyazaki-infused adventure about the bond between two children and a planet on the brink.

Arco, a ten-year-old boy from the future, travels back in time and lands in the year 2075, where humans live in domes to protect themselves from fires and extreme weather. There, he meets Iris, a girl his own age, and together they must figure out how to avert the climate crisis – and how Arco can return to his own time.

Illustrator and graphic novelist Ugo Bienvenu makes his feature debut with an inspired, wistfully moving and visually stunning sci-fi tale for all ages.

Bring the kids!

Bring your children to Göteborg Film Festival. This year, we are making an exception to the usual 15+ age limit that applies to all festival screenings, inviting audiences to three magnificent film experiences to share with younger viewers as well. The titles are Arco, The Secret Garden and Little Amélie, or the Character for Rain. Children need a cinema ticket but do not require a festival pass.
