All You See
Buy ticketsCreative, smart, teary, and funny documentary lets four girls and women of different origins express what it’s like to never really feel at home.
If you close your eyes and think of “home,” what do you see? The question is asked by director Niki Padidar, who as a girl moved from Iran to the Netherlands. Those answering the question are the brutally honest Khadji, who came from Somalia over twenty-five years ago; Hanna, a recently arrived teenager from Ukraine; and six-year-old Sofia, who just had to leave her friends in England. The ensuing conversation is both painful and humorous – with the main characters artistically placed in spartan boxes, like exotic animals on exhibit, mixed with, among other things, videos from Padidar’s childhood in Iran. All You See asks how long you can put up with being stared at instead of seen and is proof that the greatest questions are portrayed best through the most intimate stories.
