Afire
Buy ticketsA narcissistic author falls for a woman he shouldn't underestimate in Petzold's witty chamber play about creative and romantic shortcomings on the German Riviera.
Struggling writer Leon (Thomas Schubert) and photographer Felix (Langston Uibel) arrive at a summer house by the Baltic Sea. Their plan is to regain peace and concentration, but when they unexpectedly discover that there is a third guest in the house, their plans unravel instantly. In Nadja's (Paula Beer) charming presence, Leon veers off course, and his less flattering character traits are exposed more and more. As if there weren't enough crises already, they soon have a forest fire on their doorstep. Afire begins as a charming comedic trifle but elegantly evolves into something more surprising and psychologically complex. Awarded the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival
