A heartbreaking and deeply personal documentary about a daughter’s turbulent relationship with her absent, alcoholic mother – woven with love, loss, dark humor, and haunting Irish indie ballads.

Artist Myrid Carten makes a sensationally powerful, deeply personal, and courageous feature debut, turning the camera – when possible – toward her unpredictable and heavily addicted mother, Nuala. Once a successful social worker, Nuala’s life unraveled after a breakdown following her own mother’s death. Now, she drifts between pubs, rehab centers, psychiatric wards, and park benches.

Through intimate, often surprising, and darkly humorous conversations with Nuala and other family members, the film explores the trials of loving someone struggling with addiction and mental illness. Most poignantly, it confronts the impossible challenge of supporting those we love without losing ourselves in the process.

Featuring a perfectly tuned soundtrack by Lankum and Fontaines D.C., this is a fragile, beautiful, and unforgettable cinematic experience.
