A Road to a Village
Buy ticketsWhirling and vibrant tale from Nepal, about a boy's bamboo weaving family caught between the old and the new.
High up in the mountain plains of Nepal resides a clever little boy, Bindray. His parents try to keep an eye on the mischief-maker in the remote village but are busy struggling to make ends meet, unable to pay the electricity bill for months. People have stopped buying the handmade bamboo mats and baskets, and the new road to the city has changed the family's peaceful life. Now, it's all about Coca-Cola, TVs, and mobile phones. Filmmaker Nabin Subba is a pioneer in Nepalese cinema. Here, he crafts a charming, thought-provoking, and heartrending film seen through the eyes of a seven-year-old boy, depicting the impact of modernization on indigenous populations.
