It’s 1961, and a 19-year-old with raw talent and magnetic charisma arrives in New York. He visits his ailing idol Woody Guthrie and meets Pete Seeger (Edward Norton), who helps introduce him to the city’s vibrant folk scene. Dylan’s rise is meteoric, as he navigates a romance with Sylvie (Elle Fanning) and is drawn to the allure of Joan Baez (Monica Barbaro).
James Mangold (Walk the Line, GFF 2006) gives music center stage, with standout performances by Norton, Barbaro, and especially Chalamet. His mesmerizing portrayal of Dylan – both the artist and the man – is will strike a chord all the way to the Oscars.
