Beautiful love story and driven, contemporary political portrayal. Queen & Slim is a Thelma & Louise for the American Black Lives Matter movement.

Queen (Jodie Turner-Smith) and Slim (Daniel Kaluuya) have met up for a date. As Slim is driving her home they are stopped by a white cop who without provocation becomes violent. In self-defense Slim shoots him. Convinced that no one will believe a black couple, they decide to run. The event was caught on film and soon goes viral, which makes them wanted criminals, but also symbols of the rage and frustration that many African Americans feel. Melina Matsoukas, prized music-video director for Beyoncé and Rihanna among others, makes a feature filme debut with an exciting, surprising and aesthetically perfected road movie about a divided America.
